Contrary to popular belief and usage the word Alumni is not the correct term to be employed in reference to a former graduate, student, associate, employee, member or partner.

Traditionally and technically the work Alumnus is a Latin singular reference to a male former graduate, student, associate, employee, member or partner. The plural of Alumnus being Alumni, both of which do not apply to the female of our species. The Latin singular term for a female former graduate, etcetera is actually Alumna, the plural of which is Alumnae.
